Good vision is a big part of how kids learn, play, and grow. That’s why St. Lucie Family Eye Care is offering a free vision screening for children ages 5 through 17. It’s a quick, easy way for Port St. Lucie families to get an idea of whether their child may need glasses, contacts, or other vision correction.

Why screen your child’s vision?
Kids rarely say their vision is blurry. Most assume everyone sees the world the way they do. Instead, a vision problem may show up as trouble reading, drifting attention in class, headaches, squinting, or sitting too close to the TV. Finding it early helps your child keep up in school, in sports, and in everyday life.
What the free screening includes
The screening is a short check of how well your child sees. It helps us spot signs that they may need vision correction or a closer look. It’s quick, comfortable, and kid-friendly, and you’ll leave knowing whether a follow-up is recommended.
A screening is not a full eye exam
A vision screening is a helpful first step, but it doesn’t replace a comprehensive eye exam. A screening can tell us whether your child may need correction. A comprehensive exam checks the overall health of the eyes, measures an exact prescription, and evaluates focusing and eye teaming. We recommend a comprehensive eye exam for children every year. Learn more about our pediatric eye exams. If the screening suggests your child would benefit from a full exam, we’ll explain what we found and help you schedule one.
